Cello / Hao-Yun Cheng

Hao-Yun, Cheng graduated from music class at Hsin Hsing Junior High School, Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Senior High School, and University of Taipei, majored in cello performance. Studied under Professor Shih Yu-Chi, Professor Tseng Chia-Yi, and Professor Cheng Yi-Ching. In 2018, enrolled at the Créteil Conservatory in France, studying under Professor Isabelle Veyrier. The following year in 2019, admitted to the Conservatoire à Rayonnement régional de Rueil-Malmaison in France, learning from Professor Véronique Marin. In 2021, obtained the Excellence Virtuosité Diploma from the National Conservatoire of Rueil-Malmaison in France with unanimous approval (Prix Virtuosité à l'unanimité).

Apart from performing in school orchestra and chamber ensembles, collaborated with the Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Kaohsiung Municipal Teachers Orchestra, Tainan Symphony Orchestra, and New Art Symphony Orchestra. During university, became a cellist with the Taipei Symphony Orchestra's chamber ensemble. Successfully auditioned for the French Youth Orchestra (l'Orchestre Français des Jeunes)in 2020. During studies in France, participated in masterclasses with cellist Marc Coppey and Boston Symphony Orchestra's Principal Cellist Blaise Déjardin. Also attended the 2021 MusicAlp music camp, learned from cellist Young-Chang Cho.

After graduating, Hao-Yun joined Kaohsiung Symphony Orchestra, Taiwan Artist Symphony Orchestra, Baroque Camerata, New Art Symphony Orchestra, and South Taiwan Symphony Orchestra.
